Dr. Chip Starnes has served as the senior pastor at First Baptist Church since 2007. Prior to coming to Bay Minette, Chip pastored churches in Mississippi for fifteen years. His passion is to teach and preach the powerful, life changing Gospel of Jesus Christ. Chip holds a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Beeson Divinity School of Samford University, a Master of Divinity Degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Mississippi College. Chip and his wife Darlene have one daughter, Rebecca and one son and daughter-in-law, Samuel and Lauren. Chip enjoys spending time with his family, reading, hunting and college football.
Joel Carter has been serving as our Executive Pastor since 2017. He and his wife Tamara have 3 children and 2 grandchildren. Joel has worked with a wide variety of churches and non-profits throughout his career, and he holds a Master’s Degree in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation and Sports Management from Auburn University.
Alex began serving at First Baptist Church in July 2016. Alex has a passion for leading the church in God honoring music. Prior to coming to First Baptist he has served churches in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama for twenty-six years. Alex holds an Associate degree from Pearl River Community College, Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, Master of Arts in Christian Education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Alex and his wife Sherry have one daughter, Mackenzie Craft. Alex enjoys spending time with his family as well as reading and studying about American History.
Mark has served as the Youth Pastor since 2014. Mark has been married to his bride, Tabetha, since 2011. Tabetha is a Physical Education teacher at Baldwin County High School. They both are graduates of Auburn University and are avid sports fans. They have two sons, Noah, born 2013, and Hutch, born 2018. Mark received his undergraduate degree from Auburn University in Secondary Education with a focus in Biological Sciences in 2007. He then received his Master of Divinity with a focus in Youth Ministry from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2011. Mark enjoys complete chaos with his family, hunting, fishing, and dominating teenagers in every game.
Megan has been serving as the Children’s Ministry Director since December of 2017. Previously she served as Child Development Center Director beginning in 2011. Megan has been married to her husband, Matt, for 19 years. They have two children, Emma and Matthew. Megan is a graduate of Auburn University and enjoys spending time with her family, reading and traveling.
Michelle is a Baldwin County native. She and her husband Tony both serve in Baldwin Baptist Association churches. She enjoys serving FBC in our financial office.
Tina is wife to Eric, and Mom to Sarah, Daniel, and Noah. She has been with FBC since 2016. Outside of working for FBC and being a mom of 3, she teaches 2yr old Sunday School, sings with the FBC Choir, and plays with the FBC Handbells. Tina enjoys reading and cheering on her children in all their music activities.
Jenny is married to Jason, and mother to Andrew, Adam, Avery and Anna Grace. Jenny and her family have been at FBC since 2018.
